GCSE and A-Level results days are upon us and there have been big changes to the way grades have been decided.

These exams have been replaced with a teacher-grading system where results are based on things such as student’s performance in class tests, mock exams, and coursework.

Students will only be assessed on areas that they’ve been taught, as the shortened school year meant some students haven’t been taught every module they normally would be.
Teachers may also have decided to ask their students to sit assessments handed out by the exam boards to help decide on the grades. Although these tests will have been much more informal than traditional end-of-year exams.
Assessments varied based on which exam board a school was using for any chosen subject. and they were only optional, meaning that many students will not have sat these replacement tests which were attempting to help guide teachers towards the grades their students should have.
Results day is August 10 for A-level and August 12 for GCSE students.
Some vocational exam results, including results for some BTEC qualifications, will also be released next week.
Liverpool ECHO will be reporting live from a number of different schools throughout the day on Tuesday as people across the Merseyside receive their results. You will be able to follow our live blogs for both A-Level results day on august 10 and GCSE results day on August 12 as young adults in Liverpool find out if they’ve got the results they were hoping for.
