Tea lovers urged to stop for a break every day at 3pm

PG tips have shared an open letter with their competitors asking them to put aside their differences and start a ‘National Tea Break’ at 3pm each day.

The letter aims to ensure the nation stops for a well-deserved break and reaches out to friends, relatives or neighbours for a cuppa and a chat when we need it the most – regardless of the brand of brew.

The act follows PG tips’ call for #solidaritea amidst the backlash Yorkshire Tea faced earlier this year when Rishi Sunak posted a picture of himself on Twitter enjoying a Yorkshire brew, and is already picking up responses on social media, with overwhelming support from consumers, using the #TeaAt3 hashtag.

People sharing images of themselves celebrating with a cuppa and chat with a neighbour or loved one – at a safe distance.

The open letter has also seen competitors respond. From Tetley to Typhoo, the nation of tea drinkers are coming together in heart-warming acts of solidaritea.
