The local community in Cathays will get the chance to enjoy a traditional tea dance, it was announced this week.

Members on the neighbourhood policing team in the ward are putting on the event to encourage members of the community to come together for a social which is less complaint-driven than the regular partnerships and communities together meetings (PACT).

Local police officer Steph Samuel told residents at the PACT meeting the tea dance will be a traditional social event but held in the early evening so more people can join the group after work. She said:

"We're organising a tea dance. We're trying to do this for all ages to engage with us and each other.

"It's a chance to have a piece of cake and have a chat with each other, and we're looking for ideas for where to advertise it."

The tea dance will take place at the Dalton Street Luncheon club Dalton Street in Cathays, and a date and time is yet to be set. Those wishing to receive more information should contact their police and community support officer Dave Lloyd on david.lloyd6@south-wales.pnn.police.uk.
