Career Stats

A three-year starter at Notre Dame, Coney lined up primarily as the MIKE in Notre Dame’s 4-2-5 scheme. Coney is a high-volume tackler, registering over 100 stops the past two seasons for the Fighting Irish.

Coney plays with above average recognition skills to beat blockers to the contact point. But for his high tackle production, there isn’t much else to offer due to his lack of speed, mobility, athleticism and range and instincts in coverage.

However, he’s able to compensate it with being a reliable run-defender whose motor runs nonstop. Overall, Coney is a player with outstanding diagnose skills, toughness and finishing skills to play in the NFL – projecting as a capable starter, most likely as a Sam linebacker.

Projection: 3rd Round
