FORT WORTH, Texas _ TCU made program history on Saturday afternoon.
The Horned Frogs shocked No. 2 Baylor, 75-72, at Schollmaier Arena. It marked the third time this season TCU has defeated a ranked team, a first in program history.
Credit TCU senior guard Desmond Bane, who shot lights-out in the second half. Bane scored 23 points, including 19 in the second half. He was a perfect 5 for 5 from 3-point range in the final half after starting the game 0 for 3.
TCU overcame a 28-21 halftime deficit.
The Frogs led by as many as 13, 68-55, with 1:19 left, but the Bears pulled to within one possession late. Bane had a costly turnover, leading to a 3-pointer by Bears guard MaCio Teague to make it 71-68 with 22 seconds left.
TCU answered with a fast-break dunk by PJ Fuller, and Diante Smith sealed the game with two free throws with seven seconds left.
Baylor defeated TCU, 68-52, earlier this month in Waco.
TCU (16-13, 7-9 Big 12) plays No. 1 Kansas next on Wednesday night in Lawrence.
