TCU rejoins the AP poll at No. 21 with OU game looming

TCU rejoined The Associated Press' college football rankings Sunday, landing at No. 21 in this week's updated poll heading into Saturday's showdown in Fort Worth, Texas against Oklahoma, the defending Big 12 champion.

The Horned Frogs (3-1), coming off a 33-3 rout of SMU, began the season as the top-ranked college football team in Texas at No. 13 in the AP's preseason poll. A 41-38 loss to Arkansas in double-overtime on Sept. 10 took TCU out of the rankings before the Frogs resurfaced as one of five teams from the Lone Star State included in this week's poll.

Also in the poll: No. 6 Houston (4-0), No. 9 Texas A&M (4-0), No. 13 Baylor (4-0) and No. 22 Texas (2-1). TCU was No. 19 in Sunday's updated coaches poll. Oklahoma (1-2) is not ranked in either poll. The Sooners were No. 25 in last week's AP poll but dropped out Sunday.

TCU (3-1, 1-0 in Big 12) and Baylor (4-0, 1-0) share first place in the Big 12 standings heading into the first full week of conference games. TCU meets Oklahoma (1-2, 0-0), the preseason favorite, in Saturday's showdown at Amon G. Carter Stadium.
