TBT: Chris Canty announces Lorenzo Carter as Clemson linebacker at 2018 NFL Draft

The NFL Draft is set to begin at 8:00 pm tonight in Nashville, Tennessee which means mock drafts, trade talks and predictions are in full swing.

With it being Thursday, we decided to throw it back to last year’s draft in Dallas where Lorenzo Carter’s selection featured a major mistake.

Chris Canty, a former Super Bowl champion and Virginia Cavalier, came up to the stage and announced the Giants’ third-round pick last April.

“With the 66th pick in the NFL Draft, the New York football Giants select… Lorenzo Carter… linebacker, Clemson,” proclaimed Canty.

A Rose Bowl and SEC Champion, Carter was mistaken for one of Dabo Swinney’s men, despite playing a key role in the Dawgs’ run to the national championship game last year.

The goof went unnoticed by many but Georgia fans were a little less forgiving on Canty.

However, Carter would go on to have a solid rookie season with ‘Big Blue’.

In his rookie season, the former Bulldog linebacker played in 15 games, recording 43 combined tackles with 30 solo and 13 assisted.

Just in case anyone needed a refresher on the Georgia players up for selection in this year’s draft we’ve provided a list below. And no, they did not play at Clemson.

DB Deandre Baker- Georgia

WR Riley Ridley- Georgia

WR Mecole Hardman- Georgia

WR Terry Godwin- Georgia

TE Isaac Nauta- Georgia

OLB D’Andre Walker- Georgia

RB Elijah Holyfield- Georgia

C Lamont Gaillard- Georgia

DE Jonathan Ledbetter- Georgia

LB Natrez Patrick- Georgia
