The family of a teenage girl who went missing with a friend after being dropped off at the school gates on the first day back have begged her to “be safe and come home”.

Tayyibah Maqbool, 15, was last known to be travelling on buses in Acton, West London with a female friend of the same age, distressed relatives said today.

Her family, who have been desperately searching for her, said they tracked her Oyster card on several buses before the trail ran cold later on March 8.

A cousin told the Standard: “She didn’t have any plans, she got dropped at school in the morning as normal.

“If she is reading this then we want her to know everyone is so worried about her safety. We have all been out looking for her non-stop since we found out, all family members and friends of family too.

“We want her to just be safe and to come home.”

She added that Tayyibah’s friend was also still missing and the family were assuming the pair were still together.

They described her as having straight black hair and was wearing a white top, jeans and black leather jacket.

Police said the pair had links to north London.
