Tayto Park to hold special autism friendly day this Sunday and it sounds brilliant

Tayto Park is to hold an Autism Awareness day this Sunday to raise awareness of the condition.

The popular theme park and zoo in Ashbourne is to create an autism friendly environment which will involve:

  • Hand dryers remaining switched off
  • No music playing
  • Keeping queues for attractions to a minimum

Almost 90 children with autism in Dublin 15 have no school places next September

They have also created what they call a social storybook - a visual step-by-step guide which describing the various social interactions, situations, behaviours and skills that children may encounter on the day.

The guide - which you can download here - will detail all attractions open on the day and help kids with autism break down each social situation into steps that can be fully understood.

Meanwhile, the Meath park is also holding a Clubs Weekend on May 18 and 19 with special discounted rates.

Kayla from Dublin Live rides the Cu Chulainn rollercoaster at Tayto Park for the first time.

Clubs across Ireland with a minimum of 30 members can enjoy a special discounted entry and unlimited attractions for just €19.50 per person.

Tickets for the Clubs Weekend must be pre-booked.

The park has also announced limited edition family tickets for Tayto Park FunFest which is taking place on June 29 and 30.
