Tayto Park to hold a 'Love Your Zoo' week with special primate-themed events

Tayto Park is set to launch this year’s Love Your Zoo Week with a range of exciting family activities in store.

This year will see a host of ape-themed events where visitors will have the chance to learn all about the six kinds of primates at Ireland’s only theme park and zoo.

The Love Your Zoo Week is set to run for a week starting this Saturday, May 24 and will end on June 2, Dublin Live reports.

Families can monkey around with the troop of lemurs in the new lemur walk-through enclosure which has been a firm favourite in the park since it opened last month.

Visitors will also have the opportunity to see the trio of tamarins and the boisterous squirrel monkeys - the park’s critically endangered macaques.

After this you can meet the park's smallest monkey, the adorable silvery marmoset, weighing at a tiny 350 grams.

You can also be part of a special birthday celebration for the endangered Sulawesi macaque, Eka, who turns one!

And if you like getting your hands dirty, you can join the zookeepers in preparing the Lemur enrichment and watch the excitement as the keepers deliver the creations to the ring-tailed troop.

Kids can enjoy the arts and crafts hut with complimentary arts, craft, puzzles and face-painting.

Grab a seat at the “World of Raptors” arena where you’ll have the chance to see various species of birds of prey from all over the world at the parks open air seating arena.

"Love Your Zoo" week is an annual campaign established by BIAZA (Britain and Ireland’s association of zoos and aquariums) to promote the organisation and educate the public on zoos, aquariums and wildlife centres.
