Taylor vs Serrano 3 LIVE!
Katie Taylor maintained her undisputed super-lightweight world championship on Friday night as she triumphed over Amanda Serrano by majority decision at Madison Square Garden. The fight heralds the likely end of what will be remembered as one of boxing’s most vicious rivalries. This pair shared two contentious yet thrilling bouts over the past three years - both ended in split decisions and carried controversial fouls and curt words behind the scenes.
The trilogy affair was no different, though the action on the canvas was much changed. Taylor stood to complete her hat-trick tonight on return to the cathedral of boxing, and triumphed by a painfully narrow margin in the third bout - one judge read the fight as a draw, while two others leaned in favour of Taylor.
For all the build-up, the fight was something of a slow burn. From the first bell, neither seemed overly willing to take the offensive. Serrano worked the territory well through the early rounds, but Taylor coped well in the tight spaces. Where previous fights in this series had been about frenetic energy and quantity of blows rather than quality, this one was about strategy.

Taylor v Serrano: SPLIT DECISION
05:16 , Arthur FerridgeKATIE TAYLOR MAINTAINS HER TITLE AS LIGHTWEIGHT CHAMPION OF THE WORLD!
Amanda Serrano looks shocked, and, to be fair, so too does Taylor. What a moment for the Irishwoman.
Scores: 95-95, 97-93, 97-93
Taylor v Serrano: Round 10/10
05:12 , Arthur FerridgeTaylor gets a talking to from her coach in the break and is asked to bring the energy, but looks absolutely spent as she gasps for air in her corner.
She does as she’s told as she looks to eek out a late advantage, but there is still so little between these fighters.
Taylor finishes well, but has Serrano done enough to this stage? Now we wait for the decision.
Taylor v Serrano: Round 9/10
05:08 , Arthur FerridgeThe penultimate round seems to have brought with it a sense of urgency for both fighters.
There is not much time left to impress these judges, and they know it. Taylor has brought the fight to Serrano somewhat, but the Puerto Rican looks the much more impressive contender.
After all the build-up, Taylor just hasn’t shown up today.
Taylor v Serrano: Round 8/10
05:06 , Arthur FerridgeAfter eight rounds, it is more of the same.
The first round of this fight was cagey. So too have all seven rounds since.
Has the fatigue of the two previous fights caught up with them?
Serrano has drawn a small cut from Taylor’s right cheek. With this fight as marginal as it is, that could make all the difference in the eyes of a judge.
Taylor v Serrano: Round 7/10
05:03 , Arthur FerridgeIt would not take a clairvoyant to foresee a controversial split decision following this fight. Through seven rounds, there is nothing between this pair.
Taylor has landed the more punches, but have Serrano’s been more impressive? That’s up to the judges.
Taylor v Serrano: Round 6/10
05:00 , Arthur FerridgeNow we’re getting a bit of energy into this bout. Serrano is getting much more aggressive in her approach now we step into the second half of the fight.
The Puerto Rican is keeping Taylor pinned in one half of the ring, and there seems to be very little response coming from the Irishwoman.
If she is to maintain her 100% record against Serrano, she’ll need to switch up her approach.
Taylor v Serrano: Round 5/10
04:56 , Arthur FerridgeThe unofficial scorecard shows the two fighters neck and neck after four rounds, and that is a perfectly fair assessment. Both have had moments, but neither has done anything particularly notable.
Taylor is still having her best moments in response to Serrano’s attacks - she must take some initiative if she is to edge ahead.
Taylor v Serrano: Round 4/10
04:54 , Arthur FerridgeTaylor looks to be growing in confidence now, keeping closer to the centre of the ring, where in previous rounds she had been pushed to the ropes.
She has dialled in on her target now and is beginning to land those blows which will impress the judges.
More must be done if she is to clinch a win in six rounds’ time.
Taylor v Serrano: Round 3/10
04:51 , Arthur FerridgeSerrano is really looking to take the initiative now, looking to draw first blood.
She gets in close to Taylor and lands a quick combination, but cops a blow to the head in the process. Taylor’s counterattacks when caught in a bind have been impressive.
Still remarkably even through three, but the Puerto Rican is certainly in control.
Taylor v Serrano: Round 2/10
04:48 , Arthur FerridgeMore of the same in the second round, but Serrano is growing into the affair, landing some jabs on the Irishwoman opposite her.
But Taylor is more than equal to her thus far. There is no obvious advantage going one way or the other.
Notably, though, Serrano is much improved for territory in the second round, taking much more initiative as she pushes Taylor around the canvas.
Taylor v Serrano: Round 1/10
04:45 , Arthur FerridgeThe two previous fights in this trilogy started quickly, but this is a very tentative opening.
Taylor hangs on to the centre of the ring and allows Serrano to circle her, but both sides seem to be playing the ‘marathon not a sprint’ strategy.
Not the thrilling first round we’ve spent the last few hours waiting for, it has to be said.
Taylor v Serrano: Round 1/10
04:42 , Arthur FerridgeAt long last, we are underway!
The fighters arrive
04:35 , Arthur FerridgeThat is one of the most extravagant walkout sequences you’ll see.
Amanda Serrano is accompanied into the ring by a Reggaeton star and a squad of New York Knicks cheerleaders.
Katie Taylor comes out with some Elvis Presley behind her, which is a classy choice.
‘A little less conversation, a little more action.’
The mood at MSG
04:26 , Arthur FerridgeNow anthems have been sung, the atmosphere in Madison Square Garden is at fever pitch.
It is absolutely deafening inside, and it must be said that there seems to be a pro-Serrano mood.
Walkouts next.
The background
04:16 , Arthur FerridgeThe build-up to this fight is well known.
Katie Taylor has won both of the previous bouts against Amanda Serrano, but in highly controversial circumstances due to head-butts, fouls, and split decisions.
Trilogy time.
Now comes the big one...
04:07 , Arthur FerridgeIt is the one we have all been waiting for!
Katie Taylor vs Amanda Serrano is up next!
Baumgartner v Miranda: UNANIMOUS DECISION
04:02 , Arthur FerridgeIn a slightly surprising decision, the judges are unanimously in favour of Alycia Baumgartner, who retains her title as the undisputed super-featherweight champion of the world.
That feels harsh on Miranda, who made a great account of herself.
98-92, 98-92, 97-93
Baumgartner v Miranda: Round 10/10
03:58 , Arthur FerridgeThe unofficial scorecard has Baumgartner leading by three into the final round of what has been a thrilling bout.
But Buamgartner is not taking no for an answer as she rains blows on the young Spaniard.
Miranda has handed her a far sterner test than was expected and can head back to Cadiz with her head held high, but she seems to have been edged out by the undisputed champion here.
Let’s see the decision.
Baumgartner v Miranda: Round 9/10
03:55 , Arthur FerridgeWith it all on the line, Baumgartner is leaving it all on the canvas. The penultimate round sees the Ohioan blending power and frequency to stun Miranda.
She is in severe danger of both a shock upset and the loss of her belts, and receives a stern talking to from her coach ahead of the final round.
It is all to fight for.
Baumgartner v Miranda: Round 8/10
03:52 , Arthur FerridgeBaumgartner is starting to enter some very dangerous territory here. Round eight was one for Miranda to remember and for her opponent to forget.
She closes it out with a smart combination blow to Baumgartner’s jaw, and beats her chest en route back to the blue corner.
Baumgartner v Miranda: Round 7/10
03:48 , Arthur FerridgeThere is a frantic energy coming into this fight as the contenders are increasingly difficult to separate in the late stages.
If this comes down to stamina, Miranda looks to be blowing.
Baumgartner v Miranda: Round 6/10
03:45 , Arthur FerridgeThe unofficial scorecard shows Baumgartner with all too narrow a lead as we progress beyond halfway. It is not a comfortable lead by any means.
As Baumgartner looks to put her stamp on the affair, Miranda is coming up trumps in some exchanges.
The round ends in a clinch, and Miranda smirks back to her corner.
Baumgartner v Miranda: Round 5/10
03:43 , Arthur FerridgeBaumgartner looks totally at home in this ring as she dances rings around Miranda, but receives a reality check of sorts as the Spaniard lands a quick left-right combination.
Miranda has dragged herself back into contention somewhat in that last round, though Baumgartner does not seem particularly uncomfortable.
Yet.
Baumgartner v Miranda: Round 4/10
03:39 , Arthur FerridgeAs in the previous round, Miranda flies out of her corner and is promptly disciplined by Baumgarten, putting her experience to good work.
She will be well on her way to a points win by this stage, but doesn’t seem to have much interest in letting this fight go the distance.
Baumgartner v Miranda: Round 3/10
03:36 , Arthur FerridgeAfter a tough second round, Miranda looks to set the pace into the third, and is swiftly put in her place by Baumgartner.
The American waits for Miranda to step in and delivers a pair of lightning-fast combinations.
Baumgartner has a smile on her face as the bell rings.
Baumgartner v Miranda: Round 2/10
03:33 , Arthur FerridgeA bit more energy about the second round here as Baumgartner catches Miranda with a smart jab off the bat, and now the punches fly!
Miranda lets her back foot slip and goes down, but the referee isn’t treating it as a knockdown.
The Spaniard is caught with another looping hook which sends her staggering backwards.
Baumgartner v Miranda: Round 1/10
03:30 , Arthur FerridgeTalk about a cagey opening. Barely a punch is landed in the opening minute of this fight, supposedly one of the most heated on the card.
A brief clinch is the most notable event of the first round.
Baumgartner v Miranda: Round 1/10
03:28 , Arthur FerridgeThe bell tolls, and we’re off in the co-main event!
For the record
03:27 , Arthur FerridgeThe Spaniard Jennifer Miranda comes into this bout unbeaten in 12, with one career knockout.
The Ohioan Baumgartner, though, has seven knockouts in her 15-win career.
What an entrance...
03:24 , Arthur FerridgeAlycia Baumgardner looks right up for this. She boogies into the ring at Madison Square Garden with a title to defend, and seems to be enjoying the occasion.
Our penultimate fight...
03:21 , Arthur FerridgeThis has been a remarkable card already, and we are onto our second-last fight of the evening.
Alycia Baumgardner, the undisputed super-featherweight champion, means the Spaniard Jennifer Miranda.
The co-main event will be underway shortly!
The fighters react
03:05 , Arthur FerridgeShadasia Green is emotional after the bout, but Savannah Marshall is less than impressed with the decision.
Green said: “I’m so sorry, this is 20 years, man. 20 years. I was 15 years old, and I wanted to box, and I started with this man right here. My mother told me no, told me to go to college, but told me that if I brought my degree back, I could pursue boxing. 20 years later, we unified. I am overwhelmed with gratitude, with joy. These guys pushed me to my limit this camp. I got beat up every day in sparring and I know it was worth it because Savannah Marshall .... is f****** phenomenal.”
Marshall said: “Take nothing away from Shadasia, she was wonderful. I’ve never been hit like that before. Even with a point off, you’ve given me two rounds. How is that fair? All I wanted was a fair fight.”
Marshall v Green: SPLIT DECISION
03:02 , Arthur FerridgeShadasia Green wins by split decision, and look what it means to her! She drops to her knees in tears as the judge’s scores are read out, while Savannah Marshall peels off with a bemused smirk.
What a moment for the New York native - that is fantastic to see.
Shadasia Green, unified super-middleweight champion of the world.
95-94 Green, 96-93 Marshall, 96-93 Green
Marshall v Green: Round 10/10
02:57 , Arthur FerridgeBoth fighters are told by their respective corners to leave nothing in the tank. “Don’t leave it to the f****** judges,” Green is told.
And both come out of their corners keen to make good on those instructions. Green is thought to be marginally behind in the points and closes the fight with a tidy combination, but will it be enough to swing the decision?
Marshall v Green: Round 9/10
02:53 , Arthur FerridgeThe momentum seems to have swung again here - is Shadasia Green running out of gas?
Maybe so, but, there again, so is Savannah Marshall.
This is truly too close to call at this stage, as we head into a pivotal final round.
Marshall v Green: Round 8/10
02:50 , Arthur FerridgeSavannah Marshall is told to ‘think sharp’ heading into the eighth of ten rounds.
She comes out of her corner looking to land some confidence-building jabs, while Green bides her time and sizes up a finisher.
One big right hook misses high - that could have been that. But on we go...
Marshall v Green: Round 7/10
02:48 , Arthur FerridgeDeafening roars from the crowd as Taylor and Serrano are shown on the big screen having their hands wrapped between rounds. Marshall and Green are setting a fantastic standard for their headliners.
There is palpable fatigue emanating from Marshall’s body language now. She takes a wide swing into Green and misses dramatically, copping a quick combination in return.
She stumbles back as the bell heralds the end of the round.
Marshall v Green: Round 6/10
02:44 , Arthur FerridgeGreen lands another powerful left hook to open round six.
Marshall still looks peppy, jiving around and looking to make Green blink, but she is fast fading in the round.
Even when she gets Green on the ropes, the American is producing the better shots.
Marshall v Green: Round 5/10
02:42 , Arthur FerridgeAnd now it is Green’s turn to put her stamp on this fight! She lands a pair of tidy combinations, leaving Marshall dazed and confused.
She is clearly hurting, but hanging on by her fingernails. The Briton is off balance and in dire need of a visit to her corner.
The New Yorker closes the round with a statement jab square to the face
Advantage Green at the halfway stage.
Marshall v Green: Round 4/10
02:38 , Arthur Ferridge“You’re in front, but we have to put our stamp on it.”
That is the wisdom issued to Savannah Marshall ahead of round four, and she does so. After a downturn in round three, she appears rejuvenated, ducking and weaving and forcing Green into a costly error.
She is again told off for holding and seems to have copped a one-point penalty.
Whether it was excessive is up for debate, but Green gets her own back with a square headshot to close out the round.
Marshall v Green: Round 3/10
02:35 , Arthur FerridgeRound three opens with an accidental head clash, which seems to have Green reinvigorated as she delivers some punishing blows.
After keeping things tentative through the first two rounds, she looks to be pulling a clear advantage now. Marshall is now quite so steady on her feet as she was.
Marshall v Green: Round 2/10
02:32 , Arthur Ferridge“Lots of feints, no single jabs,” says Savannah Marshall’s coach in the interim, and she puts that to work immediately. She keeps a good distance from Green, but is putting her reach to good use to land some warning shots.
Green wants this bout to stay in closer quarters, leading to some awkward clinches.
The referee has words with Green about that, though. “When I tell you to let go, you let go.”
Marshall v Green: Round 1/10
02:29 , Arthur FerridgeA cagey start to this, the second fight of the main card. Green suffers an early wobble, but beyond that, there is little to report from the opening exchanges.
Marshall looks lively. Can she pull an advantage in round two?
Marshall v Green: Round 1/10
02:27 , Arthur FerridgeAnd they’re off!
Marshall is booed as the ring host mentions her hometown of Hartlepool.
Ten rounds for the unified super-middleweight championship await!
Marshall v Green
02:22 , Arthur FerridgeMarshall, out of Hartlepool, is boxing for the first time in two years and is in the hunt to make it two from two for the British contenders tonight.
Her opponent, Green, is a New Yorker, and will presumably have the supporters on her side.
How much is that worth, though? Let’s see.
Next up: Savannah Marshall vs Shadasia Green
02:20 , Arthur FerridgeThe second main card fight of the evening is upon us.
The unified super-middleweight title is up for grabs.
Taylor and Serrano are in the building
02:15 , Arthur FerridgeOur headline fighters have arrived at Madison Square Garden as they warm up for the most valuable fight in the history of women’s boxing.
Two more fights to come before then, though:
- Alycia Baumgardner (C) vs Jennifer Miranda (undisputed super-featherweight titles)
- Savannah Marshall (IBF C) vs Shadasia Green (WBO C) (unified super-middleweight titles)
Scotney v Mercado in pictures
02:09 , Arthur Ferridge

Reaction from Scotney
02:06 , Arthur FerridgeA touching moment as Scotney dedicates her win to her late friend Georgia, who lost a battle with cancer earlier this year.
Your new undisputed super-bantamweight champion of the world!
02:04 , Arthur FerridgeThe official decision comes, and there are no shocks. By unanimous decision, Scotney is crowned the champion.
Mercado is gutted. That’s a disappointing outing for the Mexican. She cuts a miserable figure in stark contrast to Scotney, who can barely contain her glee. She is like a kid on Christmas as Jake Paul wraps the WBC belt around her waist.
The scores read: 100-90, 98-92, 98-92
Scotney vs Mercado: Round 10/10
02:01 , Arthur FerridgeA statement final round from Scotney, who looked to be in the market for a knockout as she charged Mercado down.
The result was clear coming into the round. Scotney knew it and landed some devastating closers on her Mexican opponent, who just about manages to stay on her feet through to the final bell.
Scotney’s coach lifts her aloft come the end of the fight - she is not waiting around for the official call to start celebrating!
Scotney vs Mercado: Round 9/10
01:57 , Arthur FerridgeMercado hits the canvas, but it is not a knockdown. She is forced onto the ropes by Scotney and stumbles. On we go...
It seems the Briton is doing just enough. She knows she is ahead in the points, and, with one round remaining, it is a matter of time.
Scotney vs Mercado: Round 8/10
01:54 , Arthur FerridgeUpon closer inspection, that is a nasty cut on Mercado. Coming up from the inside corner of her right eyebrow, it looks to have opened about two inches vertically, and is much wider than she would probably like.
In spite of that, she forces Scotney onto the ropes as she looks to pull this bout back from the brink.
She lands some good blows and has Scotney blowing, but it won’t be enough to secure a points victory. She needs to tie this up in the next four minutes.
Scotney vs Mercado: Round 7/10
01:51 , Arthur FerridgeMercado is starting to stumble now. Scotney, as energetic as ever, continues to lap the ring, more than content to bide her time and pick her moments.
Mercado’s hands are low as she looks for an against-the-odds killshot, but she can’t quite land the blow she’s after.
Scotney vs Mercado: Round 6/10
01:48 , Arthur FerridgeMercado seems to recognise that this fight is slipping away from her and is doing all she can to stem Scotney’s flow.
But the cut over her right eye is looking nastier than ever, and the Brit knows exactly where she stands.
Asked by her coach how she feels, she responds: “Alright.”
That one word says an awful lot.
Scotney vs Mercado: Round 5/10
01:46 , Arthur FerridgeBoth fighters come out of the break with a vengeance, but still Scotney is unfazed. Her opponent, on the other hand, seems to be flagging somewhat.
The Catford-born fighter is starting to pull a clear advantage here, and has drawn a nasty cut from the right eye of Mercado.
Scotney vs Mercado: Round 4/10
01:42 , Arthur FerridgeYou sense that this fight is crying out for a break point. Scotney is edging ahead and has certainly had the run of play, but she needs a decisive moment to really put Mercado out.
Mercado looks to be a bit wary now, putting more distance between herself and Scotney, but still she hangs in.
Scotney vs Mercado: Round 3/10
01:39 , Arthur FerridgeScotney is starting to dictate the pace here, and you can tell she is getting in Mercado’s head somewhat.
The Mexican is swinging some haymakers, but routinely missing, leaving the door open for Scotney to strike. Mercado will soon run low on stamina if she keeps it up.
Scotney vs Mercado: Round 2/10
01:37 , Arthur FerridgeScotney is doing well to control territory in the ring - she is holding onto the central areas and keeping Mercado moving, which will serve her well as this fight wears on.
Despite that, Mercado catches her with a spell of pressure, forcing her back onto the ropes at the round’s midpoint.
A very even fight thus far. All to play for.
Scotney vs Mercado: Round 1/10
01:33 , Arthur FerridgeThe undefeated Scotney, holder of the IBF and WBO titles, comes out quickly against WBC belt-wearer Mercado.
The Briton takes to the centre of the ring and looks to assert herself early. It is a tentative opening, but she catches Mercado with a quick underhanded right towards the end of the round. A sign of things to come?
Scotney vs Mercado
01:25 , Arthur FerridgeA 10-round bout for the unified super-bantamweight title. Yamileth Mercado of Ciudad Cuauhtémoc and Ellie Scotney of Lewisham.
With the same age, height, and reach, this one could go either way.
Here we go...
01:21 , Arthur FerridgeThe show is about to begin!
American singer Jojo is out in the ring to sing the ‘Star-Spangled Banner’, after which Scotney and Mercado will be welcomed to the arena to open the main card.
A record breaking night?
01:13 , Arthur FerridgeThere are 17 titles on the line tonight - the most of any boxing undercard in history.
The first fight on the main card will be....
01:07 , Arthur FerridgeEllie Scotney vs Yamileth Mercado!
The unified super-bantamweight title is what they’ll be fighting for.
That fight will get underway in just over 10 minutes.
Time for the proper card
Saturday 12 July 2025 00:52 , Arthur FerridgeThe main undercard comes next! Don’t go anywhere...
Johnson v Metcalf: Round 9/10 - STOPPAGE
Saturday 12 July 2025 00:48 , Arthur FerridgeShuretta Metcalf has her eyes checked again after round eight, and the referee calls time on her fight.
“I don’t like how she’s reacting to the punches,” says the ringside doctor.
“I’m great, why are y’all doin’ me like this?” Metcalf asks in return.
The celebrations begin in Cherneka Johnson’s corner. Whether the fight was stopped now or after the scheduled ten rounds, that is the fair result.
Johnson v Metcalf: Round 8/10
Saturday 12 July 2025 00:45 , Arthur FerridgeMetcalf has her eyes checked ahead of round eight. Johnson smells blood - her trainer told her in the break that she only needed a couple of big blows to tie it up, and she is doing everything in her power to get it over the line.
Metcalf is struggling more than ever at this stage. She is tired and hurting.
Johnson v Metcalf: Round 7/10
Saturday 12 July 2025 00:42 , Arthur FerridgeJohnson is out for blood in round seven. She runs out at the bell and goes straight for the throat (figuratively).
The pair are separated after a clinch and a head clash, but Metcalf is the only party whose rhythm is disrupted by the stoppages. She catches an underhand right to end the round.
Johnson v Metcalf: Round 6/10
Saturday 12 July 2025 00:39 , Arthur FerridgeMetcalf looks exhausted here. Her best counter to Johnson’s blows is to clinch, but that only works on so many occasions. More worrying stumbles emerge.
Johnson v Metcalf: Round 5/10
Saturday 12 July 2025 00:36 , Arthur FerridgeMetcalf is totally on the back foot here - she is all out of sorts after that round four knockdown.
Johnson is keeping this textbook, standing in a compact stance and exploiting her opponent’s vulnerable instants with expert timing.
She has Metcalf on the ropes again late on. Surely Metcalf doesn’t have four more rounds in her...
Belts up for grabs
Saturday 12 July 2025 00:35 , Arthur FerridgeThere are plenty of titles on the line tonight. Here’s a reminder of the prizes at stake and their holders:
- Katie Taylor (C) vs Amanda Serrano: Undisputed super-lightweight titles
- Alycia Baumgardner (C) vs Jennifer Miranda: Undisputed super-featherweight titles
- Savannah Marshall (IBF C) vs Shadasia Green( WBO C): Unified super-middleweight titles
- Ellie Scotney (IBF, WBO C) vs Yamileth Mercado (WBC C): Unified super-bantamweight titles
- Cherneka Johnson vs Shuretta Metcalf (IBF C): IBF bantamweight title and vacant WBC and WBO titles
- Chantelle Cameron (C) vs Jessica Camara: WBC interim super-lightweight title
Johnson v Metcalf: Round 4/10
Saturday 12 July 2025 00:34 , Arthur FerridgeDown goes Metcalf! Whether that was a knockdown, or a trip, or something else entirely, the Texan hits the deck and it has only made her angrier - she looks intent on getting her own back.
But Johnson catches her again with mere seconds remaining in the round, sending her stumbling once more.
We have a fight on our hands!
Johnson v Metcalf: Round 3/10
Saturday 12 July 2025 00:30 , Arthur FerridgeAn awkward lock-up opens the third round, and that really looks to have unsettled Metcalf. Johnson remains patient, and she is picking her moments cleverly to take advantage of vulnerable moments from her opponent.
With 30 seconds left in the round, she catches the Texan square in the face and pushes her back into the corner. A sign of things to come?
Johnson v Metcalf: Round 2/10
Saturday 12 July 2025 00:27 , Arthur FerridgeMore of the same in the second round here, though Metcalf looks to be settling somewhat. She looks more comfortable after the second bell, but is still swinging for the fences.
This is clearly going to be a strategy-focused fight, and Johnson looks perfectly comfortable.
Johnson v Metcalf: Round 1/10
Saturday 12 July 2025 00:24 , Arthur FerridgeSeems a bit of an anxious start from Metcalf, who is allowing Johnson to push her around the ring from the off.
Metcalf the Kiwi is cool, calm, collected, carefully timing her blows as Metcalg, also known as Chicken, opts for quantity rather than quality.
Serrano's view
Saturday 12 July 2025 00:22 , Arthur FerridgeAmanda Serrano is winless through two against Taylor, but that is not to say she hasn’t come close. Here’s her preview of tonight’s fight.
Serrano said: “I’m going to use my head, but not the way it was used on me. We’re going to be smarter. I worked a lot smarter for this fight and I believe we will come out victorious. Losing is never fun, but you only lose if you feel like you lost.
“And I didn’t feel like I lost. My team told me I didn’t lose. They’re proud of me, so I’m OK. Like [Serrano’s promoter] Jake Paul says: ‘You turn that L into a W.’”
A word on Shuretta Metcalf
Saturday 12 July 2025 00:21 , Arthur FerridgeShuretta Metcalf is a single mother who got her start in boxing by fighting underground for cash so as to support her two sons.
The Texan is now the IBF Bantamweight Champion.
How’s that for a story?
Moving swiftly onwards
Saturday 12 July 2025 00:19 , Arthur FerridgeOne last preliminary bout here, and it is another major one.
Cherneka Johnson and Shuretta Metcalf step into the ring to fight for the IBF bantamweight title and vacant WBC and WBO titles.
Cameron v Camara: Unanimous decision!
Saturday 12 July 2025 00:16 , Arthur FerridgeThere was only going to be one hand raised after that bout - Chantelle Cameron of Northampton maintains her WBC interim super-lightweight title.
She really did a number on Camara, whose face is already swelling.
Cameron v Camara: Round 10/10
Saturday 12 July 2025 00:12 , Arthur FerridgeThe fight ends as it began - with Cameron raining fury and Camara swinging wildly.
After an all-action bout, Camara is battered and bruised, with at least one black eye, and stomachs a few more punishing hooks in the final round.
The pair hug it out at the final bell, but don’t expect any big surprises come the decision.
Cameron v Camara: Round 9/10
Saturday 12 July 2025 00:08 , Arthur FerridgeCamara is barely staying on her feet here - looks like she is aiming to make it through the end of round 10 as a point of pride.
The belt-holder Cameron is raining blows. Two minutes remain.
Cameron v Camara
Saturday 12 July 2025 00:05 , Arthur FerridgeBetween rounds seven and eight, Jessica Camara undergoes concussion protocols with the ringside doctor.
She is deemed fit to continue, but is only barely hanging in. You’d be surprised to see this one go the distance, with the WBC interim super-lightweight title on the line.
What has been said ahead of the fight: Katie Taylor
Saturday 12 July 2025 00:05 , Arthur FerridgeKatie Taylor has heralded tonight’s fight as a landmark event for women’s boxing - a dream come true for the Irishwoman.
She said: “This fight is even bigger than the last two. To be headlining such a huge card, an all-female card, is an absolute privilege. I dreamt of this as a kid: headlining a show full of amazing women.
“It’s a history-making event. I feel like people haven’t seen the best me yet. I can definitely make the fight a lot easier for myself and I just can’t wait to step in there and actually perform.”

You can find that livestream here.
Taylor v Serrano rivalry explained
Friday 11 July 2025 23:45 , Arthur FerridgeTonight’s bout will complete a storied trilogy.
Previous fights in 2022 and 2024 both went the full distance, with Taylor winning by decision - but not without controversy.
Serrano and her camp have accused Taylor of a variety of misdeeds through their earlier fights. The charges include leading with the head, and a ‘foul’ which handed Serrano a grisly cut above her right eye.
All will be settled tonight, though, in front of a sold-out Madison Square Garden.
“I’m just tired of the complaining and the whining from Amanda’s team,” Taylor said. “I have my own opinion about the stuff Amanda has been saying, but the fact is I’m 2-0 against her. Opinions are opinions, but facts are facts. I plan to stay 3-0 come this Friday night.”
Serrano is also confident: “I’m going to use my head, but not the way it was used on me. We’re going to be smarter. I worked a lot smarter for this fight and I believe we will come out victorious.”
Will the Puerto Rican get her own back, or will it be three and out? Stay tuned to find out!
Results are in from the first fight of the night
Friday 11 July 2025 23:42 , Arthur FerridgeTonight’s broadcast may not start until 1am BST, but don’t be fooled - pre-undercard bouts are already underway!
Ramla Ali edges a controversial split decision (77-75, 77-75, 78-74) over Lila Furtado in their eight-round super bantamweight bout.
The pundits seem to think Furtado was hard done by there...
If that is setting the tone for the evening, we should be in for some thrillers down the line.

Taylor v Serrano 3 prediction
Friday 11 July 2025 23:35 , Arthur FerridgeNeither Taylor nor Serrano have fought since their previous bout in November, and there is little to suggest that the Puerto Rican has done enough in the interim to turn the tide.
On paper, the pair are very evenly matched at roughly the same height, weight, and reach, meaning it is Taylor’s technique and strategy which sets her apart.
This has been the case in the first two editions of this matchup, as the Irishwoman has used nimble footwork to her advantage, working around Serrano’s power to edge ahead in the long term.
Will it be third time lucky for Serrano? Maybe. Will the fight go the distance? Almost certainly.
Taylor to win by decision.
