American tennis fans have two reasons to celebrate Down Under. In addition to Madison Keys winning the Australian Open singles title, Taylor Townsend won her second Grand Slam doubles title in six months.
Townsend again teamed with the Czech Republic’s Katerina Siniakova to win a hard-fought doubles final against Jelena Ostapenko and Hsieh Su-wei in three sets. The pair also won the Wimbledon title last July.

Taylor Townsend is now two-for-four in Grand Slam doubles finals and has made a finals appearance at each Grand Slam. Ironically, the two losses came to players on the court today in Melbourne. Su-wei teamed with Wang Xiyu to defeat Townsend and Leylah Fernandez at the 2023 French Open. Townsend’s partner Siniakova teamed with Barbora Krejcikova to beat her and fellow American Caty McNally at the 2022 US Open.
American tennis fans need to give Townsend props because she is one of the best doubles players of this generation. She has eight doubles titles, two of which are Grand Slams. Those titles were won with five different partners: Asia Muhammad (3), Luisa Stefani, Alycia Parks, Beatriz Haddad Maia, and Siniakova (2).

She also was a 2024 US Open mixed doubles finalist with Donald Young.
What often goes unnoticed is that Townsend is a tennis mom. She has achieved great success after giving birth to her son Aubrey in 2021.
Taylor Townsend And Katerina Siniakova Are A Winning Combo
Her partner is no slouch either. This is Siniakova’s 10th doubles Grand Slam title and 28th overall. She was part of the legendary Czech Republic duo with Barbora Krejcikova. Siniakova won 7 Grand Slams with Krejcikova, 2 with Townsend, and 1 with Coco Gauff (2024 French Open).
It’s time the tennis world gave Townsend the respect she deserves as well as a clothing contract. Shockingly, she does not have one, but hopefully, that will be rectified sooner rather than later.
