Taylor Swift’s very famous wedding singers revealed as TV presenter lets slip details

It was the wedding of the decade, and two weeks after Taylor Swift married Travis Kelce, further details about what went down at Madison Square Garden are coming to the light.

The pop star and NFL player, both 36, tied the knot at the high security Manhattan sports venue on 3 July. And while Swift herself is yet to break her silence on the big day, further details about the musical performances at the event have now been revealed by one of the reported 1,000 attendees, sports analyst and ESPN presenter Pat McAfee.

Live on air on Monday (13 July), the former WWE wrestler confirmed previous reports that Stevie Nicks and Paul McCartney had performed, with the latter playing The Beatles’ 1963 hit “I Want To Hold Your Hand” for the first time in more than 60 years.

Adding that “Taylor was up with them, obviously”, McAfee then said that Lavigne had played. “I don’t want to give away too much, but it was the greatest night of all time,” he said.

Returning to the show on Tuesday (14 July), McAfee continued: “I guess me saying Avril Lavigne played ‘Sk8r Boi’ was the first time that it came out, but she was awesome,” confirming that the Canadian rocker had opted for her 2002 hit song.

He also then let slip: “And to be clear, those musicians... one would just call out the other, and then they would come up and they would just do their s***.”

With a 1,000-person guest list of family members and celebrity friends, Swift and Kelce’s New York nuptials proved to be the event of the summer for the world’s biggest stars.

Many have rumoured that the celebrity guests were asked to sign NDAs to prevent details from emerging, although a few details have slipped through the cracks.

When it comes to the music used in the ceremony, Swift dipped into her own back catalogue and walked down the aisle to her first big hit, “Love Story”.

Guests also received a piece of Swift’s lyrical history as wedding favours, as they were given lace handkerchiefs embroidered with the couple’s initials, their wedding date and New York City location, and a lyric from Swift’s hit 2014 single “Blank Space” that said: “So it’s gonna be forever…”

Despite weeks of rumours and celebrity sightings, the location was not confirmed until after the wedding, when signs outside Madison Square Garden displayed the message “JusT&T Married” (a reference to the couple’s initials).
