Taylor Swift to headline Glastonbury Festival

American pop star Taylor Swift is to headline the Pyramid Stage at the Glastonbury Festival on the Sunday night of next year's event, it has been confirmed.

The 'Shake It Off' singer announced the news to her fans on her Twitter feed, as Glastonbury Festival itself also tweeted out the news.

The singer has been an odds-on favourite to headline Glastonbury for months, alongside Sir Paul McCartney and Kendrick Lamar, and the almost certainty that all three would be Glasto's 2020 headliners was revealed by Bristol Live around a month ago, here .

Since then, Sir Paul and now Taylor Swift have confirmed they will be headlining, with the former Beatle playing the Saturday night and Swift on Sunday.

Taylor Swift, who now apparently has an English boyfriend, said she was 'ecstatic' to be playing at Glastonbury for the first time.

And Glastonbury Festival also announced the news, confirming what has long been one of the worst-kept showbiz secrets.

Founder Michael Eavis recorded a video explaining the decision, saying Taylor Swift was headlining the Sunday.

"I'm so pleased to announce that Taylor Swift to be headlining the Sunday at Glastonbury this year," he said.

"She's one of the biggest stars in the world, and she's young and she's a fantastic American girl, and it's going to be beautiful and her songs are absolutely amazing, and we're so delighted," he added.

Emily Eavis simply tweeted: "Taylor! Yes!" in response to the news.

Only the Friday night headliner for Glastonbury 2020 - the 50th anniversary festival - is yet to be confirmed, and if the bookies' odds from November are anything to go by, put your money on Kendrick Lamar now.
