Taylor Swift tickets hit resale sites within minutes with prices costing as much as £6,500

Taylor Swift fans have taken to Twitter to share their disappointment as tickets for her The Eras tour are already popping up on resale sites for extortionate amounts of money.

With the 11am pre-sale event having strict access rules, fans who were lucky enough to receive a special code queued patiently in line to try and score tickets for shows in London and Edinburgh via Ticketmaster and AXS..

But within minutes of the standing tickets allocation for one of her six Wembley Arena shows next June going on sale, listings started to appear on websites such as ViaGogo and Stubhub for as much as £6,500.

Official ticket prices were confirmed this morning for London as being:

  • Ticket presale seated ticket - £58.65 - £194.75 each
  • Ticket presale general admission standing - £110.40 each
  • Tickets presale front standing left ticket - £172.25 each
  • Ticket presales front standing right ticket - £172.25 each

A quick check on ticket resale site StubHub showed that there were 149 tickets left at the time of writing, with prices starting from £430 for seated tickets at the back of the stadium.

By far the most expensive ones available were four standing left tickets that could be all yours for a whopping £6,500 per person.

Over on Viagogo, tickets to see Tay Tay were also selling for silly money with prices ranging from £389 up to £1,182 per ticket.

Speaking about the ticket price hikes, a Viagogo spokesperson said: “The European leg of Taylor Swift’s Eras tour has been long anticipated. We’ve not seen anything like this since The Beatles and with tickets having only just gone on sale, demand is at its peak right now.

"Viagogo is a regulated marketplace where fans have the freedom to buy and sell tickets to their favourite live events, safely and securely, backed by a guarantee. Sellers on our marketplace may list tickets at high values when demand is high, but prices can change and tend to reduce over time.

"We recommend Swifties wait for demand to settle and check regularly for a listing that meets their budget. Tickets for Taylor Swift’s UK dates have already sold for as low as £172 on our platform. Also, tickets listed at eye-catchingly high levels rarely, if ever, sell.”

Twitter user @JoHulmeBeeYou was not happy that resale sites were so quick to start selling tickets at inflated prices.

She was just one of many taking to social media to share their disgust, as a fellow Taylor fan called Jemima tweeted screenshots of the resale sites along with the caption: "See this is insane. Not even 10 mins since the pre-sale opened and already people are selling them for £1000."

Fans who received a special code for the first of the Midnights pre-order pre-sale events will have another opportunity at 1pm to score tickets to see their idol, and again at 3pm today.

Demand across all of the pre-sale and general sale dates is expected to be so high that Ticketmaster and AXS have staggered access to the site today, and fans are already flooding social media with stories of their ticket-buying successes and in many cases, failures.
