)Taylor Swift has called out Netflix for a "deeply sexist joke" about her dating history made in the new television series Ginny & Georgia.
The 31-year-old American singer-songwriter, who with 88.5 million followers is the sixth-most followed person on Twitter, tagged the streaming service directly in her complaint on Tuesday.
The tweet also included a black screenshot with the captioned line from the show.
"Hey Ginny & Georgia, 2010 called and it wants its lazy, deeply sexist joke back. How about we stop degrading hard working women by defining this horse shit as FuNnY. Also, @netflix after Miss Americana this outfit doesn't look cute on you Happy Women's History Month I guess."
The ABC has contacted Netflix for comment.
Miss Americana is a 2020 documentary about Swift in which she spoke candidly about her struggle to "deprogram the misogyny in my own brain".
Ginny & Georgia's 10-episode series was released on Netflix on February 24.
The show follows a mother and daughter as they settle into life in a new town.
It initially received mixed ratings from fans and critics, but its landing page on Google and its page on review site Rotten Tomatoes have since been targeted with negative reviews from loyal Taylor Swift fans, known as "Swifties".
In November, Swift was named artist of the year at the American Music Awards, a record sixth win for her at the fan-voted show.
She released two albums of new music in 2020 and is in the process of re-recording songs from her earlier albums.
The new recordings are a bid by Swift to wrest back control of all her early music, which has been at the centre of a long-running battle with her former collaborator Scooter Braun.
