Taylor Swift's boyfriend Joe Alwyn spotted smooching co-star on set of Normal People follow-up

Taylor Swift’s boyfriend Joe Alwyn has been spotted kissing his co-star for new BBC drama Conversations with Friends.

The British actor, 30, can be seen shooting the passionate scene with his colleague Alison Oliver in a BMW sat in a car park in Wicklow, Ireland.

Joe can be seen leaning in for the smooch as the two actors play out the torturous love affair of BBC and Hulu’s adaptation of Sally Rooney’s debut novel, Conversations with Friends.

The same creative team behind the hit adaptation of Rooney’s Normal People -which starred Daisy Edgar-Jones and Paul Mescal - will return to bring her other acclaimed novel to life.

Newcomer Alison will portray the "observant, cerebral and sharp" young Irish writer Frances.

The character of Frances lives with former girlfriend and "self-assured, outspoken and compelling" best friend Bobbi, who is played by Loki and American Honey actress Sasha Lane.

The drama begins when the two ladies get entangled with a charismatic and creative married couple, Nick and Melissa.

Joe portrays Nick, an older actor who becomes the subject of Frances’ affections, while the complicated writer Melissa is played by Girls actress Jemima Kirke.

The official synopsis adds: “While Melissa and Bobbi flirt with each other openly, Nick and Frances embark on an intense, secret affair that is surprising to them both.

"Soon the affair begins to test the bond between Frances and Bobbi, forcing Frances to reconsider her sense of self, and the friendship she holds so dear."

Lenny Abrahamson, director of Normal People and the award-winning drama film Room, will return to helm the new adaptation from Sally Rooney alongside His Dark Materials director Jeanne Welham.

Abrahamson said of the castings back in February: "I feel so excited to be collaborating with four such superb actors to bring Sally’s brilliant novel to the screen."

The role is sure to be another winner for Alwyn whose star has been on the rise since 2018 when he appeared in major roles for films such as Operation Finale, The Favourite, Boy Erased, and Mary Queen of Scots.

The following year he played the villainous Gideon Brodess in Harriet.

Joe is also well-known as being the boyfriend of singer-songwriter Taylor Swift, who he has dated since 2016, and has been the subject of much of her music.

In 2019, Joe revealed that he liked when Taylor wrote songs about him.

When asked by The Sunday Times if he minded being her subject matter for her music, he said: “No, not at all. No. It’s flattering,”

The actor even co-wrote songs with Swift for her most recent albums, Folklore and Evermore, which were released last year.

*Conversations with Friends will be released on BBC Three and BBC iPlayer in the UK in 2022.
