Taylor Swift responds to The Office’s Rainn Wilson jokingly saying he doesn’t know who she is

Taylor Swift and Rainn Wilson had a hilarious Twitter exchange, delighting both fans of the singer and The Office.

On 14 December, the "Willow" singer responded to SPIN calling her new album Evermore an "undeniable folk-pop masterpiece" with a gif of Wilson's Office character, Dwight Schrute, crying and saying "thank you".

Wilson responded, joking that he didn't know who Swift was. "I do not know who this is. Inventor of the Swiffer?" he tweeted.

Swift, who is a big fan of The Office, responded by sharing an image of John Krasinski's Office character Jim mouthing to the camera, "Touché".

The Grammy-winning performer, who just celebrated her 31st birthday, just released Evermore, her follow-up to 2020's stripped-down Folklore.

Recently, she debunked rumors that a third 2020 album release (rumored to be called Woodvale) was on the way.

Talking to late-night host Jimmy Kimmel, Swift commented on the rumours, which had begun due to eagle-eyed fans noticing the word "Woodvale" on the cover of her Folklore album.

"I tend to sort of be annoyingly secret-agent-y about dropping hints and clues and easter eggs," she said.

"It’s very annoying but it’s fun for fans and it’s fun for me, because they like to pick up on things, and they’ll notice lots of things in music videos or whatever. And sometimes I take it too far and I make a mistake.

"[I] wanted to see how [titles] would look on the album covers, mocked them up, then decided I don’t actually want to have a title on the album cover," she continued. "And we forgot to take the fake code name off of one of them."

Evermore, featuring collaborations with Bon Iver, HAIM, and The National's Matt Berninger, is out now.
