Taylor Swift new album: Will TS7 be called Lover?

Taylor Swift has appeared to hint that her forthcoming seventh album could be called Lover.

In an exclusive Q&A with The Independent, Swift revealed that you “hear it twice, and see it once”, referring to the title hidden in the video of her hit single “ME!”.

The word “lover” appears twice in the lyrics of the song, and is also written as a neon sign on a building in the backdrop of one scene.

Lover was one of the top suggestions from fans for the album title, along with Kaleidoscope and Butterfly.

“ME!” recently returned to the number one spot on the UK Radio Airplay Chart again this week, knocking Ed Sheeran’s “I Don’t Care” featuring Justin Beiber from the top spot.

Elsewhere in The Independent Q&A, Swift spoke about why she wanted to collaborate with Panic! At the Disco frontman Brendon Urie for the song, and also explained how “ME!” was a kind of “palette cleanser” for her new album following 2017’s Reputation.

“I wanted them (fans) to see that I’m heading in a different direction musically than they’ve seen in the past few years,” she said. “This song was to change expectations and be a bit of a palette cleanser before they hear more of this new project. Plus, the chorus just makes me happy and lifts my mood when I sing it. I never want to be presumptuous, but I hoped it might do the same for someone who’s having a sh**y day.”

She appears on the Graham Norton Show tonight (24 May) on BBC One at 10.35pm.
