Taylor Swift has sent rumour mill into overdrive following a string of cryptic posts on social media, leading fans to believe she’s about to drop a new album.
In recent weeks the star has transformed her Instagram into a pastel-coloured dream, sharing a slew of pictures that appear to be counting down to something.
The first image which sparked speculation was a bizarre snap of seven palm trees.
It was then followed up by an image of Swift before the Oscars party, sat on the sixth step of a staircase.
What followed was a trail of quirky images all with the caption ‘4.26,’ which her fans think translate to mean she will release new music on April 26.
Eagle-eyed fans have also noticed that this is not the first time the ‘4.26’ date has popped up on Swift’s radar. In an article which the star penned for Elle back in March, titled ’30 Things I Learned Before Turning 30,’ no. 26 on the list reads: “I make countdowns for things I’m excited about.” Coincidence? We think not.
Swift is known for dropping hints in the run-up to a musical release, so fans have wasted no time in sharing their excitement on social media, adding that they “can’t take” the anticipation.
One user wrote: “I’m physically not ready for a new album release right now I’m SWEATING this is around the time where the semester gets busy but if this is her way of challenging me? Challenge accepted, Taylor! Drop the album.”
Another commented: “It feels like just yesterday Taylor was posting the cryptic snake videos and now she’s already giving us hints for a new album... my heart can’t TAKE THIS.”
A third added: “So Taylor is really coming to step on my neck with a new album so soon huh..”
Ahead of the Reputation’s release, Swift went off the grid completely before coming back with revenge song Look What You Made Me Do.
Swift is yet to confirm if a new album is on its way.
