Taylor Swift fans guess release date of re-recorded Fearless album after spotting clues in Instagram post

Taylor Swift fans think they’ve figured out the release date for the re-recorded version of her album Fearless.

On Thursday (11 February), the singer announced that a newly recorded version of her 2008 album is on its way, with a new rendition of the song “Love Story” being released tonight.

“I’m thrilled to tell you that my new version of Fearless (Taylor’s Version) is done and will be with you soon,” Swift wrote on Instagram.

The record will contain six songs previously unheard by fans which were written around the same as Fearless, when she was aged between 16 and 18.

However, with Swift having long been a fan of dropping clues and Easter eggs in her posts, eagle-eyed fans spotted a secret code in Swift’s Instagram post.

Random letters in the post were capitalised, with the letters spelling out “April ninth”, suggesting that Fearless (Taylor’s Version) will be released on 9 April 2021.

“HOLD UP SHE’S CAPITALISING LETTERS AGAIN I AM TOO EMO FOR THIS TAYLOR,” one commenter tweeted.

“OMG GUYS SHE CAPITALIZED SOME LETTERS AS AN EASTER EGG! APRIL NINTH | FEARLESS WILL BE OUT ON APRIL 9TH!” one tweet read.

“The fact that Taylor gave us the message “April ninth” the exact way she used to give us secret messages in her lyrics makes me so emotional,” another fan wrote.

In November, a re-record clause in Swift’s contract with Big Machine expired, meaning she has since been free to re-perform and re-record every song from her six studio albums released with the label.

In the announcement, Swift wrote: “I’ve spoken a lot about why I’m remaking my first six albums, but the way I’ve chosen to do this will hopefully illuminate where I'm coming from. Artists should own their own work for so many reasons, but the most screamingly obvious one is that the artist is the only one who really *knows* that body of work.

“For example, only I know which songs I wrote that almost made the Fearless album, songs I absolutely adored, but were held back for different reasons.”

She continued: “Those reasons seem unnecessary now. I’ve decided I want you to have the whole story, see the entire vivid picture, and let you into the entire dreamscape that is my Fearless album.”

Fearless was Swift’s first Grammy win for Album of the Year, which at the time made her the youngest ever winner of the award.
