Taylor Swift couldn't make fan's graduation party, but did send flowers

ORLANDO, Fla. _ Taylor Swift fan Ashley Silvers figured, why not invite her favorite singer to her University of Central Florida graduation party?

"I was hopeful, but I wasn't expecting anything," said Silvers who mailed and emailed an invite to Swift last month, thanking her for being a positive influence in her life.

She never heard back.

Silvers graduated with a bachelor's degree in advertising and public relations from the University of Central Florida on May 6 and then prepared for her New York City-themed party in Miami on May 13.

The party's theme was to celebrate her acceptance into Fordham University's business school in New York.

The morning of the party, flowers arrived _ a bouquet so large, it seemed like they practically touched the ceiling, said the 22-year-old Miami native.

"My mom called me downstairs," Silvers said. "I don't know who these are from."

In loopy cursive, the card read, "Hi love!"

"I'm so sad that I can't make it to your graduation party ... I'm so proud of you, your hard work and dedication, your excitement and ambition. ... love Taylor."

"Oh my goodness, Taylor Swift," said Silvers who has been to eight Swift concerts since she first started listening to her music as a teenager.

Silvers put the flowers on the living room table during the party, but her guests looked at her incredulously when she told them who the gift was from.

"It is unbelievable, to be fair," Silvers said.

Her Twitter post went viral and her story picked up in the media.

A surreal end to her college career.
