Taylor Swift becomes female artist with most No 1 hits on Irish album charts in this decade

Taylor Swift is living up to her Reputation as she's become the female artist with the most No 1 hits on the Irish album charts this decade.

The sassy songbird snapped up her fourth Number 1 on the Official Irish Albums Chart, it was confirmed today.

Taylor's seventh studio album Lover has scored the biggest week of CD sales and digital downloads for a female artist so far in 2019, becoming Taylor’s fourth consecutive chart-topper following Red (2012), 1989 (2014) and Reputation (2017).

She outsold the rest of the Top five this week, with Lover’s first week combined sales eclipsing her previous hit albums Red and 1989.

And only One Direction and Nathan Carter have claimed more chart-topping albums since 2010.

This week, Ed Sheeran slotted in at No 2 on the album charts with No. 6 Collaborations Project, closely followed by Scottish crooner Lewis Capaldi's Divinely Uninspired to a Hellish Extent.

Billie Eilish comes in at No 4 ahead of her appearance at Electric Picnic with When We All Fall Asleep Where Do We Go while Post Malone's Beerbongs and Bentleys rounds out the top five.
