Taylor Swift Announces New Album 'The Tortured Poets Department'

Taylor Swift

Taylor Swift has recently shared a message with Apple Music users, expressing her excitement for the upcoming release of her album, The Tortured Poets Department. In the voice note, Swift thanked fans for pre-adding the album and revealed that it will be available on April 19th.

The album, which will feature 16 songs on the standard edition, has already generated buzz among fans. Seven songs on the tracklist are marked as explicit, and the genre has been classified as pop by Apple Music.

Additionally, The Tortured Poets Department will have four variations, each named after a bonus track included: “The Manuscript,” “The Bolter,” “The Albatross,” and “The Black Dog.” Swift announced the album while accepting a Grammy for Best Pop Vocal Album for her previous record, Midnights.

Since news of the album broke, fans have been speculating about the inspiration behind the songs. Many believe that the tracks may be influenced by Swift’s breakup with Joe Alwyn, which was confirmed in April 2023 after a six-year relationship.

During a concert in Melbourne, Australia, Swift shared that creating The Tortured Poets Department was a vital process for her. She emphasized the significance of songwriting in her life and how this album served as a lifeline during a challenging period.

Swift's announcement has generated excitement among her fans, who eagerly anticipate the release of the album next month. With its unique themes and explicit content, The Tortured Poets Department promises to be a significant addition to Swift's discography.
