Taylor Swift and Dua Lipa were big winners, but here's who made a splash on the Brit Awards red carpet

Put away the restrained Chanel gowns and pump up the fashion volume — the Brit Awards (aka the UK's equivalent of the Grammys) dished up unisex midriffs, metallics and at least one feather duster-inspired frock.

It was also one of the first big events post-COVID to have a real red carpet vibe — fewer masks and actual spectators with around 4,000 people there.

That's because it was part of the UK government's trial to re-open live events, meaning everyone had to record a negative COVID test before showing up.

But people were ex-cit-ed!

Now back to who wore what, here are the red carpet highlights:

Dua Lipa

The singer won twice; once for her album, Future Nostalgia, and she was named best female solo artist. She wore Vivienne Westwood to do it (and used her speech to call for more pay for essential workers).

But for her performance she went back to Geri Halliwell (circa early Spice Girls) for inspiration.

Taylor Swift

Her history-making award (first woman, first non-Brit) as Global Icon deserved this sparkly number (it's Miu Miu, in case you want to blow your pay on something).

Olly Alexander

Yes, lace and midriffs are unisex. Could you perform on top of a grand piano with Elton John in anything less? This is a Harris Reed outfit.

Rina Sawayama

This bit of lavender vintage Balmain really moves — look at it go.

Griff

Named rising star, this combo of metal cage/veil is something that belongs on the red carpet. The dress is by Susan Fang.

Celeste

If you can't wear all the feathers to the Brits, you can't wear them anywhere. Despite three nominations, she didn't win on the night.
