Taylor Moore's chances of Hearts permanent switch as Nigel Pearson makes Bristol City admission

Nigel Pearson is open to Hearts signing Taylor Moore permanently.

The Bristol City centre back joined the Jambos on a season-long loan last Friday before making his debut as a second half substitute in their 2-0 Premiership win over Dundee United the following day.

Despite having over three years left on his contract at Ashton Gate after penning an extension in October last year, Pearson admitted that Moore was unlikely to play for the Robins and didn’t rule out a permanent switch to Tynecastle.

It seems as if the English Championship wouldn’t be difficult to deal with, although if Moore impresses on loan and with such a long time left on his deal, then City could look to cash in, with Pearson stressing the importance of being sensible financially.

Regardless, it seems Moore has no future in Bristol under the former Leicester boss.

"Well, he's going to get limited opportunities [at Bristol City]," Pearson explained to sister title Bristol Live.

"And I think it's good for him and it's just very, very straightforward: he's not going to get the exposure in games that he needs.

And whether it turns into a permanent one, we'll see. But we're also trying to have a tighter ship in terms of finances. I never hide from that. It's a reality of life and football. For me, it's a no-brainer.

Centre backs were a priority for Robbie Neilson this summer and it’s likely to be the case again.

John Souttar, Craig Halkett, Stephen Kingsley, Alex Cochrane and Mihai Popescu are all out of contract next summer.

An offer has been made to Souttar in an attempt to tie him down and Neilson confirmed talks will take place with others after the transfer window closes.

Popescu has been told he can leave and could be one of today’s departures from Gorgie, while Cochrane’s loan from Brighton is also up in May.
