Taylor Heinicke maintains a positive attitude ahead of Carson Wentz’s impending return

The Washington Commanders have a big decision to make soon. In the big picture, it’s really not all that difficult of a decision; Washington should stick with Taylor Heinicke at quarterback for the remainder of the season.

When starting quarterback Carson Wentz went down with a fractured finger in Week 7, Heinicke returned to the starting lineup where he started 15 games last season, winning seven starts.

Heinicke returned to the lineup in Week 7 and immediately started winning. In four starts, Heinicke possesses a 3-1 record, including a shocking road win against the Philadelphia Eagles on Monday Night Football.

Now, Wentz is eligible to return ahead of the Week 11 game against the Houston Texans.

Heinicke was a guest on the “Pat McAfee Show” Tuesday, displaying the humble attitude that makes him such a beloved teammate.

“I just want to be the best teammate I can be,” Heinicke said. And help in any way I can. If they want to go with Carson next week, great, I’m going to help him in any way I can.”

Heinicke not only has Washington in the thick of the deep NFC playoff picture, but he’s also playing for a new contract. Heinicke is a free agent after this season and if he continues to play — and win — he will receive a nice payday from someone in the offseason.
