Taylor Gabriel on Bears offense: ‘It’s a drastic change from last year’

What a difference a season can make. Especially when it comes to the growth and progression of this Chicago Bears’ offense.

Gone are the days of installation and in are the days of fine-tuning a scheme that most of the offense now has a full season of experience under its belts.

Receiver Taylor Gabriel says that the progress that the offense has made even to this point has been substantial, as well as the continued development of third-year quarterback Mitch Trubisky.

Expectations for the Bears offense in Year 2 are high — and rightfully so. This is a unit that boasts a slew of weapons that give the Bears an opportunity to stretch the field and make big plays. Not to mention the continuity aspect of being in the same offense for the second season.

Gabriel believes that the Bears offense can make a substantial leap in Year 2 given that they’re no longer in a rookie offense.

“Us having a second year under our belt — the terminology it’s expanded, it’s more detailed,” Gabriel said. “We know what Mitch wants. Mitch can kind of feel our speed, the tempo of what we’re doing. We’re connecting and also going outside the playbook of what (Matt) Nagy drew up on the lines…It’s kind of turned into ‘our offense.'”

Now that the Bears have a better understanding of what’s expected and the potential of this offense, the sky’s the limit for this group in 2019.
