Taylor Decker headed to injured reserve, will miss at least 3 weeks

Lions head coach Dan Campbell wasn’t fooling around when he said starting left tackle Taylor Decker might “be down for a little bit”. Decker is headed to the Lions’ injured reserve after having surgery on his injured finger.

Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network reports that Decker will miss “about a month”. The longest-tenured member of the Lions team must sit out at least three weeks before being activated off I.R.

The exact nature of the finger injury, or even which digit is injured, has not been made public. Decker suffered the wound in a pass protection drill during practice this week.

With Decker sidelined, the Lions appear to be moving rookie Penei Sewell from the right side to the left, with swing reserve Matt Nelson taking over on the right side. That is still just the presumed course of action; Campbell left his options open when addressing the media about Decker’s situation on Friday.
