Taxi driver threatened with a bottle during attempted robbery in Arboretum

A man threatened a taxi driver with a bottle and tried to get him to hand over money. 

The attempted robbery happened on Colville Street, in the Arboretum, at about 1am on Thursday (October 10).

The driver picked up a man from Haydn Road and the driver was later threatened with a bottle.

The passenger tried to get the driver to hand over money.

The driver resisted and the man ran off towards Colville Terrace.

Nothing was stolen and the driver suffered no injuries.

Police have appealed for witnesses, including students who saw what happened, to come forward.

Anyone with information which may help the investigation is asked to contact on 101, quoting incident 31 of October 10.
