Taxi driver 'spat in woman's face' after 'ramming her car' sparking covid fears

A reeling motorist claims a taxi driver spat at her after ramming into her car.

Tracey Turner says she narrowly escaped a bad accident while driving through chicanes in Sandbrook Way in Denton, Greater Manchester.

Tracey, from nearby Audenshaw, was driving home from work at the time of the alleged incident, Manchester Evening News reports.

The 54-year-old alleges she had right of way when the black cab squeezed through the chicanes, driving in the opposite direction to her.

Upon asking the cab driver to move out of her way, she claims they clipped the front bumper of her Peugeot 107 before pulling up alongside Tracey and spitting in her direction.

"I was going to apologise to the taxi driver because of what happened with the other guy," she said.

"But then he spat in my face and rammed my car.

"When he spat it went everywhere, on my face and on my car. It's not nice."

A neighbour came over to check Tracey was okay after the incident at around 2.40pm last Wednesday (May 26), and told her she had 'spit all in her hair'.

Tracey, who works on reception at Active Tameside in Hattersley, says she called two local taxi firms in an attempt to try and trace the driver, but was unable to.

The taxi's baffling manoeuvre has caused cosmetic damage to Tracey's car, but she was more alarmed at being spat at in a pandemic, particularly with Indian variant B.1.617.2 in circulation.

"I was so angry," said Tracey.

"There was just no need for any of it. It has exhausted me emotionally.

"I had not done anything to him.

"I just don't understand people that do things like that. It shouldn't happen to anyone - it's quite scary."

Tracey says she intends to report the incident to Greater Manchester Police, but was unable to get through on 101 last week.
