Taxi driver smashes through barrier at Piccadilly station

A taxi crashed through a barrier at Piccadilly station.

The Hackney Carriage was driven through metal barriers at the station's taxi rank on Fairfield Street today (Wednesday).

Rail bosses said people were directed to another pick up point while repairs were carried out.

Network Rail, tweeting from the Manchester Piccadilly account, said: "A vehicle has driven through the barrier to our taxi rank on Fairfield street.

"Our friendly staff are directing passengers to a temporary taxi pick up point further along the street.

"The area will be cordoned off while we make the repairs.

"Be safe. Be patient. Be kind."
