Taxi driver rushed to hospital after he was 'assaulted by three men' in Co Dublin

A taxi driver was hospitalised after a brutal assault in Dublin last night.

The cabbie was allegedly attacked by three men after he picked them up in Saggart and brought them to Cloonmore Green in Jobstown, Tallaght

The incident happened at around 10:30pm yesterday evening, Dublin Live reports.

It is understood the thugs stole two phones and a sum of cash from the driver and also damaged his car.

The taxi driver was taken to Tallaght Hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries.

A garda spokesman said they are investigating the incident.

He said: "Gardaí are investigating a suspected robbery from a male taxi driver in his early 30s that occurred at Cloonmore Green, Tallaght at approximately 10.30pm on 2nd July 2019.

"The taxi driver was allegedly struck by three male passengers who took a sum of cash and other items.

"There was also damage to the taxi driver's vehicle during the incident.

"The taxi driver was taken to Tallaght Hospital with non-life threatening injuries."

No arrests have been made and investigations into the incident are ongoing.
