A taxi driver was hospitalised after a robbery in Drogheda, Co Louth in the early hours of Saturday morning.
The innocent taxi driver was attacked and robbed of a sum of cash by the suspect who is believed to have been armed with a hammer at around 2:30am in the town.
Gardai arrived at the scene and the man was taken to hospital for his injuries - which are not believed to be serious.
An investigation has been launched with no arrests made at this early stage.
A garda spokesperson told the Irish Mirror: "Gardaí are investigating a robbery that occurred shortly after 2:30am this morning, Saturday 13 th March 2021. A sum of cash was taken during the incident. A male in his 50s was taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital Drogheda to be treated for his injuries.
"Investigations are ongoing."
