Taxi app reveals how a Dublin passenger spent over €700 on one taxi journey to and from Mayo

A Dublin passenger bizarrely spent over €700 on a taxi journey from Dublin to Mayo and back.

In an attempt to get to an important meeting on time, the business passenger clocked up a whopping €751 on the trip from the capital to the western county before returning.

In contrast to this, the shortest trip taken was from the Shelbourne Hotel to Grafton Street, figures from Lynk taxi app revealed.

One Lynk driver revealed the most hilarious comment of the year as one passenger said: “I thought Ariana Grande was a font,” when the American popstar played the 3Arena.

And the oddest request the Lynk team had this year was a woman looking to transport her budgie from Dublin to Brussels after no airline would allow her to travel with it.

Unfortunately a total of 122 passengers legged it without paying and a further 57 got sick in the taxi.

According to the report, the most common items customers left behind were phones (32%), wallets or bags (22%) and shopping (13%).

In fact, one unfortunate bride-to-be left her wedding dress behind having forgotten it was in the boot.

Luckily she was able to recover the item in time for the big day as any item found by the driver is returned to the passenger or dropped to the nearest Garda station.
