‘Tax on every hardworking American’: Ohio man watches his fill-up cost jump from $40 to $75 and does not hold back on Donald Trump

An Ohio man’s frustration at a Speedway gas station went viral on TikTok after he paid $75 to fill up his truck. The user, known as The Mortgage Engineer, shared a 38-second clip of himself filling up 15 gallons of gas at $4.99 per gallon. He pointed out that he used to pay just $40 for the same amount, and he did not hold back on his feelings about it.

In the video, he took a direct shot at President Trump, saying sarcastically, “No tax on tips? No, this is a tax on every hardworking American. Thank you, DJT.” He also shared a moment with the cashier, who asked if he wanted to donate. He replied, “I just donated to your gas pumps out there, homie. There’s nothing left.”

According to The Nerd Stash, the video drew hundreds of comments, with many people expressing frustration over rising gas prices. The Speedway station in the video showed diesel priced at at least $5.70 per gallon. A separate commenter shared an image from a Mobil station in Sherman Oaks, California, where diesel was priced at $8.50 per gallon.

Trump’s economic approval is taking a real hit as gas prices keep rising

The rising gas prices are hitting many Americans hard, especially those who rely on their vehicles for daily commutes and work. Heidi Bunting, a student with two children, shared her concerns, saying, “It’s awful, and not just for me. I’m sure the only people doing well in this economy are those who started with a lot of money.”

Ohio has also been in the news for other shocking stories, such as the case of an Ohio man whose unusual medical situation made headlines. An AP-NORC poll found that Trump’s approval rating on the economy has dropped over the past month, with even Republicans showing less confidence in his leadership.

According to Associated Press, only about one-quarter of U.S. adults approve of how Trump is handling the cost of living. Even among Republicans, only about half approve of his handling of costs, which is a notable drop from previous months.

Younger Republicans are especially unhappy, with about 6 in 10 Republicans under 45 disapproving of how Trump is handling costs. The poll also found that about three-quarters of U.S. adults describe the economy as “very” or “somewhat” poor. This comes despite Trump’s earlier promises to bring down gas prices and tame inflation.

In an interview with CNBC, Trump dismissed the situation, calling the conflict a “little journey” and describing the roughly 35% jump in oil prices as a positive. This response has not gone over well with the public, many of whom are struggling to afford basic needs like health care and transportation.

The gap between his promises and the current reality has added to the growing frustration. In other Ohio news, there was also a bizarre story of an Ohio man who made a costly banking mistake that landed him in serious trouble.

The blame for rising gas prices has been spread across different causes, with some pointing to Trump’s trade and foreign policies, and others citing the ongoing tensions with Iran as a key factor. Regardless of the cause, the financial pressure on everyday Americans continues to grow, and the debate over who is responsible is not slowing down anytime soon.
