A taxi driver has managed to drive to hospital after he and his passenger were shot through the window of his cab while stopped at a home in Sydney's northwest.

Police say the cabbie picked up the 30-year-old man from a home in Sydney's west on Wednesday morning, before taking him to a home at an address in Riverstone where they were shot while still in the car.

The taxi driver then drove to Hawkesbury Hospital, where both men were treated for gunshot wounds and remain in a serious condition.
