Tattooed mum 'scares kids and dog' after covering ink up with makeup

A tattooed mum has 'scared her kids and dog' after covering up her extensive ink with makeup to look completely unrecognisable. Melissa Sloan says her family 'freaked out' after seeing her without tattoos for the first time.

The 46-year-old decided to change her look after being involved in a number of controversies based on her unique appearance. She claims to have been barred from the pub and having to watch her children's nativity play outside.

The mum from Wales opted to freshen up her beauty routine to see what she looked like before having all of the ink. The Daily Star reports that she covered her face with foundation and got some wild reactions.

Melissa says she so looked so different that her eight and 10-year-olds "burst" into tears. She added that even her pet pooch, Polly, didn't know who she was.

Melissa said: "It took me ages. I bought one [foundation] for £3 and thought I'd try it that way.

"I put it on for about half an hour and when I went downstairs the kids freaked out because they didn't like it. And my partner looked twice he said 'no, it don't suit you.

"Get your tattoos back, it looks weird'. They [my kids] burst out crying and even my dog looked twice.

"She didn't like me that way, my youngest wanted me back as I was. It scared her."

Although Melissa wanted to "challenge" herself, it did not go down too well with her primary school aged kids. She added: "I wanted a change.

"I wanted to challenge myself but the kids were scared they wanted me back. They were frightened of me with makeup on – it scared them to death and they wouldn't come by me!"

After applying layers of the Maybelline Superstay foundation, the mum had a hard time scrubbing the long-lasting '30 hour' product off. Despite the backlash from the makeover, she admitted that she has got a new found taste of 'experimenting' with an inkless face.

Melissa said: "To wash it off it took 24 hours, it's still on there a little bit. I enjoyed myself doing it, it was different.

"I might do it again actually with different wigs and try and go out like it now and again. I'm going to buy some more and some different lipstick – I just like to experiment."

Next time, Melissa plans to cover her inkings without her kids present as she doesn't want to scare them again. She added: "The kids got frightened and thought I wasn't their mum – I'm different – as they haven't seen my [tattoo free] skin in ages.

"These trolls say to me my kids are scared but they are scared of me with my foundation on. People don't realise that, they are small minded."
