Tata Steel death: Worker dies at Port Talbot plant in south Wales

A worker has died in a machinery accident at the Tata Steel plant in Port Talbot, south Wales, leading to an immediate investigation.

Emergency services, including an air ambulance, were called to the site shortly before 2pm on Wednesday where the worker required "urgent medical attention".

South Wales Police, confirming the death, described the accident as an "isolated incident" with no threat to the public. The man's next of kin has been informed.

The Welsh Ambulance Service said the worker needed "urgent medical attention" following the accident.

Tata Steel confirmed the incident in a tweet and said a "full investigation" had been launched.

In April, two workers were injured at the plant after several fires broke out when molten metal came into contact with cold water on a railway track.
