NEW DELHI: Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) has given an order for 1,500 electric buses to Tata Motors from under a larger tender by Convergence Energy Services Limited. The bus manufacturer will supply, operate and maintain these airconditioned, low-floor 12-metre-long e-buses.
“The induction of the environment-friendly buses will help largely in reducing air pollution and benefit millions of Delhi citizens,” DTC managing director Neeraj Semwal said.
“We’re delighted to have won the largest order for electric buses by DTC. The delivery of these buses will further fortify our partnership with DTC and help in environment-friendly mass mobility for the city of Delhi,” said Rohit Srivastava, vice-president of product line — buses, Tata Motors. The manufacturer will operate and maintain the Tata Starbus e-buses for 12 years.
The company said it had supplied more than 650 electric buses across multiple cities in India, which have cumulatively clocked more than 39 million kilometres. It said the buses would be equipped with modern features to enable safe and comfortable travel.
