Tata Marcopolo workers’ agitation enters 17th day

The indefinite agitation by the workers of Tata Marcopolo seeking fulfilment of their various demands entered the 17th day, while a relay hunger strike by some workers entered the ninth day, in Dharwad on Tuesday.

Addressing the protestors, TUCI State Vice-President K.B. Gonal, President Siddanagouda Patil, Viresh Patil, Rajashekhar G. and Mahanthesh Navani said that the agitation will continue till their rightful demands are met. They emphasised the need for all the employees to stay united to get all the demands fulfilled.

On Tuesday Madhusudhan, Sachin, Santosh, Lohit, Siddharood, Basavaraj, Narayan, Kirankumar, Mahesh, Suresh took part in the hunger strike.

The workers indefinite agitation was launched after the talks with the management failed.

The workers demands include wage revision, reinstatement of eight dismissed workers as per a court order,  upgradation of the canteen, various incentives and amenities; health insurance to parents of the employees and others.

They have also demanded that the Chief Minister should intervene in the matter to resolve the issue and that the company should withdraw its suppressive tactics.
