Tata and HSBC UK among business figures at climate change conference

Senior business figures from firms such as Tata and HSBC UK are set to take part in a West Midlands climate change conference next month.

The one-day event, entitled 'Climate Change - Turning Consequences Into Solutions', will discuss issues such as the consequences of climate change, those companies and organisations taking action and the way forward.

Appearing on a comprehensive line-up of speakers is Paul Brooks, director of health, safety and environment at Jaguar Land Rover owner Tata, and Michaela Wright, head of corporate sustainability at Birmingham-headquartered HSBC UK.

Also appearing is former Severn Trent planning manager John Firth, co-founder and chief executive of consultancy Acclimatise who will set the scene at the conference, and senior figures from Sutton Chamber, Birmingham City University and the Environment Agency among others.

The morning sessions will focus on how various organisations are already responding to the issue of climate change while the afternoon is an exploration of what is stopping progress and what can be done to unblock it.

The topic of who the voice of sustainable development in the Midlands business community is will also be examined.

Now in its fourth year, the not-for-profit conference has been organised by communications consultant David Middleton and runs from 9am to 3.30pm on November 6 at Tally Ho, in Pershore Road, Birmingham.

The conference is free to attend for delegates - for details and to register your attendance visit www.climate-change-solutions.co.uk.
