Taste of Sutton: How to eat well in Dublin 13

This week we take a look at Sutton, that little strip of land separating Howth from the rest of the northside.

There's not much space in that small area, but we've picked out a range of great places to eat and drink whether you're a local or just heading out that way for some fresh sea air.

This is the Taste of Sutton.

Coast Café, Sutton DART Station

This little coffee hut is enormously popular with locals and commuters – it’s accessible from the road and also directly from the station platform, so you’re never too far from a flat white.

Insomnia, 1 Sutton Cross

Breakfast at Insomnia (Insomnia / Facebook)

Sutton isn’t exactly blessed with breakfast spots, but if you’re looking for an early morning snack then there’s always Insomnia – it’s open from 8am and will keep you right with breakfast baps, sweet and savoury muffins, bagels, porridge or fruit.

Minetta Delicatessen, 1 Sutton Cross

Sutton-based photographer Leah Carroll says, “Minetta Deli has a very friendly vibe and is run by locals who are happy to chat through their daily specials.”

The Elphin Bar, 36 Baldoyle Road

Lunch at The Elphin Bar (The Elphin Bar / Facebook)

This hugely popular local is just the spot for a relaxing pub lunch with all the usual favourites – steak sandwich, Elphin burger grilled to order, fish and chips, veggie pasta – along with a selection of daily specials.
