Chestnuts are ready for harvest at a farm in Kasumigaura, Ibaraki Prefecture, where visitors can pick the nuts to enjoy a taste of autumn.
The seven-hectare Fukuda Green Farm is home to about 2,000 chestnut trees of 10 kinds. Due to long rains this summer, the harvest was a little later than usual, but the amount of nuts is about the same.
The farm has taken measures against the novel coronavirus, such as asking visitors to sanitize their hands and measure their temperatures upon entry.
A 69-year-old man from Misato, Saitama Prefecture, said with a smile: "It was fun. I felt like I went back to my childhood."
The chestnut picking season lasts until mid-October this year. The farm is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. There is an entrance fee and an additional charge for take-out.
