Here's what you need to know today:

Search for missing doctor

Police are calling for public to help find a missing man in Tasmania's north.

85-year-old Geoffrey Frank Trezise was last seen in Westbury on Monday morning.

The retired GP is described as being 170cm tall, of slim build with short wavy grey hair, hazel eyes and glasses.

He was last seen wearing light coloured trousers and a brown jumper.

Call for TasWater fix as residents told to boil water

TasWater has urged residents who become ill after drinking water with E.coli to contact their doctor.

The water supplier yesterday issued a boil water alert for thousands of residents in the south-east towns of Lauderdale, Roches Beach, Seven Mile Beach and Acton Park.

TasWater program manager Lance Stapleton said a local school and retirement village were among those affected.

"We've notified them straight away, when we first became aware of the issue, and we've sent a water trailer around to those two sites to supply those children and elderly residents with water," he said.

"We haven't had any reports of illness and people feeling unwell.

"However, if you are concerned for your health, please talk to your doctor."

The State Opposition has called on the Hodgman Government to fix the issues within TasWater.

Shadow Environment Minister Alison Standen said the Government had broken its promise to fix water and sewerage issues.

"The question arises why are the serious problems still happening?" she said.

"Really, it's incumbent on the government to tell people how long this water is being affected and how long the alert will last as soon as possible."

The State Government has been contacted for comment.

Homeless belongings removed by council

The Launceston City Council has removed the belongings of homeless people living outside a closed shop in the mall.

Mayor Albert Van Zetten said there was an altercation between council cleaning staff and people living in the mall yesterday morning.

He says after the homeless people left, the council removed their belongings.

"The owner of the store was going to close it off so we then cleaned up for him and cleaned up around the area where there was quite a mess from where those people had been," he said.

"They closed it off and we have got their belongings and they know that and they're able to collect those whenever they want."

Bruny back-up power fails

The back-up electricity supply cable to Bruny Island has failed in the lead up to its peak tourist season.

TasNetworks said the cable between Tinderbox and Dennes Point failed on Sunday and several attempts to restart it had not worked.

It said the outage might have been caused by a boat's anchor dragging on the seabed and divers may be used to investigate.

The island's main subsea connector from Kettering is not affected, meaning there is still power supply to the island.

There are also back-up diesel generators at Alonnah.

TasNetworks said with the island set to swell with tourists over summer demand for electricity would be higher, so it would dedicate significant resources to fix the problem.

Weather

The forecast for Wednesday is for showers about the north-east and west during the morning, extending statewide in the afternoon.

A full and updated list of warnings can be found on the Bureau of Meteorology's Tasmanian Warnings summary webpage.

As of 6:30am the Pinnacle Road to the summit of Hobart's kunanyi/Mount Wellington was open to the summit.

Check the council website for the updated status of Pinnacle Road.
