Taskovski Films Sales Acquires 'My Sextortion Diary' Documentary For Premiere

Hunter Schafer's Horror Film 'Cuckoo' Set To Premiere At Berlin Film Festival

Taskovski Films Sales has acquired the documentary 'My Sextortion Diary,' directed and produced by Patricia Franquesa. The film delves into Franquesa's experience with digital blackmail following the theft of her laptop in 2019. Set to premiere at SXSW, the documentary showcases Franquesa's journey in dealing with the aftermath of the attempted extortion.

In May 2019, Franquesa's laptop was stolen during a business trip in Madrid. Several months later, she discovers that personal photos of her have been accessed by an anonymous hacker who demands a ransom to prevent the dissemination of the images to her professional contacts. Faced with the threat of reputational damage, Franquesa grapples with feelings of shame, anger, and vulnerability.

Despite initial challenges in seeking legal recourse, Franquesa receives a breakthrough when the individuals responsible for the theft of her laptop are apprehended. Empowered by this development, she embarks on a personal investigation to confront the hacker and reclaim her privacy.

'My Sextortion Diary' is a production of Gadea Films and Ringo Media, with Franquesa at the helm. Irena Taskovski, CEO of Taskovski Films, commended Franquesa's documentary for shedding light on the pervasive issue of cyber blackmail and the erosion of privacy in the digital era. The film underscores the universal struggle for dignity and control in the face of technological vulnerabilities.

Franquesa, known for her work in the documentary genre, has collaborated with acclaimed filmmakers and production houses, including Heymann Brothers Films and HBO. Her previous projects have garnered critical acclaim and international recognition, establishing her as a prominent voice in the industry.

Taskovski Films' partnership with Franquesa signifies a commitment to amplifying diverse narratives and supporting emerging filmmakers. Franquesa expressed gratitude for the collaboration, citing Taskovski Films' dedication to championing innovative storytelling.

With 'My Sextortion Diary,' Franquesa offers a poignant exploration of resilience and empowerment in the face of adversity. The documentary promises to resonate with audiences worldwide, inviting reflection on the complexities of privacy and personal agency in an increasingly interconnected world.
