Tashaun Gipson gives Colts another option at safety in free agency

The Jacksonville Jaguars have parted ways with veteran safety Tashaun Gipson, which adds another option for the Indianapolis Colts in free agency.

With a massive need to add depth at the safety position, the Colts are expected to be in the market. Gipson, who was a salary cap casualty after the Jaguars tried to trade him, could be another option they look at for veteran depth in the back end of the secondary.

Gipson, 28, has been a solid force at the safety position for the Jaguars since arriving in 2016. He had a bit of a down year in 2018 but isn’t too far removed from recording four interceptions in 2017.

During his time with the Jaguars over the last three seasons, Gipson has started all 48 games while recording 159 tackles (131 solo), 16 passes defended and six interceptions.

The safety market in free agency is extremely deep with the likes of Landon Collins, Tryann Mathieu and Adrian Amos. The group just got another addition in the form of Gipson, who could warrant consideration from the Colts.
