Natasha Jonas insists that she still has what it takes to be a world champion.
The former Olympian, who suffered her first defeat in the paid code last year, has had just one fight since.
Jonas was stopped by Viviane Obenauf in Cardiff last August when she succumbed her WBA International female super-featherweight title.
And after returning in March with a six-round win, ‘Miss GB’ will take on Bec Connolly over the same distance tonight at the Eventim Olympia in her home city, exclusively live on iFL TV and ESPN+
The end goal remains the same for 33-year-old Jonas, though, and that is to have a world title belt around her waist before the end of her career –– despite her admission that she’s not getting any younger.
“I want to be a world champion. I didn’t get an Olympic medal, didn’t get a Commonwealth medal, so I’ve always been the nearly girl even though I’ve fought the best,” Jonas says. “I don’t want that to happen for my professional career so I do want to go out there and get world titles. I just want to be the best boxer I can.”
Jonas faces Connolly –– who has been active and boxed twice already this year –– but is adamant that she is not taking her lightly and instead refuses to look ahead to what’s next until her job at hand has been taken care of.
