Tased and confused: Speedway race ends in chaos

An outburst of road rage at a US race track has ended with a driver being tased and arrested.

Two drivers collided during a race at the Andersen Speedway in Indiana.

Tensions escalated after both drivers pulled out from the race and confronted each other on the track, both still strapped inside their cars.

Moments later, one of the race drivers, Jeffrey Swinford, rammed into his competitor's vehicle, crushing its side and then driving over the hood.

Amateur video of the incident shows the second driver, Shawn Cullen, climbing out of his mangled vehicle, marching towards Swinford's car and then punching him through the open window.

The two were finally separated after a police officer tased Cullen, who fell to the ground, writhing in pain.

Both drivers were later handcuffed and taken into custody, leaving behind shocked fans who got more excitement than they bargained for from a night at the track.
