Tasmanian Premier Peter Gutwein will drop the portfolios of climate change and tourism as he seeks to strike a better work-life balance after a health scare.
The Liberal leader was discharged from hospital last week when he suddenly "hit the wall" and became unwell after working 46 days straight.
"It was really as simple as me getting to the point where I was just fatigued," he told reporters on Sunday.
He has since received a clean bill of health but has resolved to take better care of himself, including shedding the cabinet responsibilities of climate change and tourism.
Environment Minister Roger Jaensch will take on the climate change portfolio and Hospitality and Events Minister Sarah Courtney will add tourism to her list of responsibilities.
The change will take effect at the conclusion of this week's estimates hearings.
Mr Gutwein will remain premier and treasurer while continuing to focus on the state's response to COVID-19.
The 56-year-old delivered his eighth state budget as treasurer on August 26 and thanked Deputy Premier Jeremy Rockliff for filling in for him last week.
Mr Gutwein became premier in early 2020 when Will Hodgman stepped down mid-term, and guided the party to their third straight state election win in May.
